Twenty five plus years ago Joe Hawley and Lee Connors met as construction workers with a desire to create and perform great music. After a few odd attempts at planting a music career, a blues, folk and hard rock concoction called Firstborn hit the stage in 1989.

With a focus on original material, the near blood-brother’s songs cover subject matter from life lessons and relationships, to gospel messages with a depth and drive beyond the typical top 40 fare. For eleven years the duo performed with their band throughout the Northwest U.S. and western Canada garnering some radio support and building a loyal following. The group played churches, fairs, Christian Bikers Association events and Sonfest.

Firstborn loved to perform and record live, selling live cassette’s to enthusiastic fans.

Firstborn took a break in 2000 to focus on family. In late 2003 longtime friend and fan of Firstborn, drummer Rick Sloot, prompted Joe and Lee to reunite. In it’s improved form, the band took on a larger shape with Wayne Clark on bass and Lee’s wife Rosemary playing keys, accordion, flute and providing vocals. In 2006 the band also added lead guitarist Evan Salmon. Salmon brings a modern edge to this bluesy band.

Firstborn’s 2003 renewal also included updating the old look, name and logo. Since the band still has a strong reputation as an entertaining stage act with a knack for bringing God’s creatures the “Message of Life!” , the name was changed to “FIRSTBORN LIVE!”. This energetic band works to hear the Voice of God as they move from song to song.
